The Education Village embodies four of the major principles of our organisation’s ethos. Education, development, activation and self-dependency. The village gives much needed support to one of the largest populations affected by the ongoing war and conflict, who are also one of the most vulnerable and at risk; women and children.

The village boasts an assortment of religious, academic, and vocational educational courses, personal development programmes, rehabilitation and counselling, and small business projects. This system has proven to produce independent, informed, competent and confident role models who not only learn to manage their own affairs but who are also empowered to help educate and benefit others.

A Place of Hope & Refuge

Education Village is a place of hope, a refuge where those who reside can recover, learn, grow and work towards seeing their dreams and aspirations become reality. Began in the Fall of 2018 to provide both shelter and assistance to widows and orphans while helping them to achieve their full potential through education and training.

In the year and half the programme has been running we’ve seen many positive results impacting and changing the lives of the women, children, widows and orphans for the better. The Village has proven to be a successful, sustainable and highly beneficial project allowing the expansion of human resources, and its capability to help and reach others in need, as well as a launching pad for other projects and initiatives.

The village consists of two residential complexes housing 33 families with two flats for staff and an office for residential administration. While the project aims to provide services to women, widows and orphans, specific qualifications were placed upon the applicants to ensure that they are most able to benefit from the programme and the programme from them.

Those meeting the requirements are able to apply to the programme all applicants undergo an interview process, consisting of written and oral tests in both academic and religious sciences as well as an evaluation of thir present situation and living conditions by case workers.

Once accepted into the programme she befits from rent free lodging in the village where, maintenance, water, electricity and internet services are all provided. Each month every household receives a cash stipend based upon family size and a monthly parcel containing staple food and hygienic items as well as vouchers for use at a local market.

As the main focus of the programme is education, rehabilitation, training and activation there are a variety of programmes and institutions in place in order to facilitate this. Women and children receive regular educational assessment and evaluations as well as counselling and special attention regarding their emotional and psychological state.

There is a nursery for young children, and Islamic courses from the village’s Masjid Ali Banat, academic via the Al-Mumtahanah Institution such as maths, Arabic and IT and vocational programmes in business management, tailoring, and agriculture. This holistic approach to assisting, educating, developing and activating beneficiaries has proven to be successful.
